Parent Involvement

Parent Involvement Plan/Policy

2025-2026

Cameron Elementary recognizes the important role parents play in the education of their children. We encourage all parents to be fully involved in their child’s education and in the life of the school. Parent support for their children and for the school is critical to their children’s success. Cameron Elementary intends to include parents in all aspects of the school’s programs. Our goal is a school-home partnership that will help all students in the school to succeed.

Parental Involvement in Developing Policy

The Cameron Elementary School Improvement Team, PTA representatives, Parent Advisory, teachers, school staff, and administrators will meet to jointly develop and/or revise and agree upon a Parental Involvement Policy for our school. Special attention will be given to recruiting parents of those students who are at risk of meeting the State’s achievement standards. The goal is to have at least 2 parents on the school improvement team.

Annual Meeting for Parents

At the annual meeting for parents, which will be held in September, parents will be given information about Title I guidelines and new updates. They will be given copies of Cameron Elementary's Parent Involvement Policy and will be offered a chance to become involved in revising the policy as needed.

The annual meeting will be held in the evening for the convenience of parents. The meeting is intended to help provide more coordination and support for both parents and the school resulting in a program to meet the needs of Cameron Elementary.

School-Parent Compact

According to Title I law (ESSA), each school must share responsibility with parents for high student performance by developing a school-parent-student compact jointly with the parents of children participating in the program. These compacts must outline how parents, staff, and students will share responsibility for promoting high student achievement. Parents on Cameron Elementary’s School Improvement Team will be involved in designing these compacts. Parents will receive the compact from the school with a list of responsibilities that teachers, parents, and students will each have for helping students achieve their goals. Parents, teachers, and students will sign and return a copy to the school.

Building Capacity for Involvement

Cameron Elementary, along with Moore County Schools, will ensure effective involvement of parents through technical assistance, coordination and funding to:

-Help parents interpret state and local assessments and monitor their child’s progress
-Ensure that information sent home is in a language and format that parents can understand
-
Encourage partnerships between the school and the community

Evaluation

Moore County Schools Office of Federal Programs will conduct an annual evaluation of the content and effectiveness of Cameron Elementary’s Parental Involvement Programs, and parents will be asked for their input. Cameron Elementary’s School Improvement Team will include an assessment of how much parental involvement is increasing and what barriers to parental participation still need to be overcome. The school will revise its Parental Involvement Policy on the basis of this annual review.
